Special Report

I am typing this post from the comfort of my laptop in Emily's Study, how cool is that.

In groundbreaking news I am getting the Full series of the original Degrassi (that's right the television show about the Canadians and the morals) I'm going halvies with Erin, who is also a fan of the series. On Sunday we went to Ezy Dvd and got the full series of Degrassi Junior High, the first few episodes we watched were a blast from the past, they were a tad lame but apparently they get better over time. I have purchased Degrassi High (Same characters only slightly older) from Ebay, I went to the post office to make you a money order, I should get that within the next few days.

I am making further grounds with the job. I'm getting more details about it. It has been confirmed that I will be working at the Collins street shop near Parliament house the Kino Dendy. My job will be maintaining stock and supply, including taking stock off the trucks, storing them in the warehouse, bringing stock to the shop and perhaps putting stock on the shelves at times. Vitally important work, otherwise there wouldn't be any chocolate for anyone. My uniform is very similar to my school uniform, White shirt (Short or Long sleeves), black pants and shoes. Shifts should start next week.

Apparently we only have one day of orientation because of the teacher strike, I wonder how that will work out (If at all)

Pay it forward, that is the Degrassi way!

Big news, This morning I called Haighs headquarters about my application for the job and I learned that my application will be sucessfull. My job will be making sure that supply and infantory meet the needs of the customers in its christmassy goodness. Perhaps a better description of the job is a "shelf" I guess we will find out, whatever it is it should be fine.

In other news Corey will be comming to Melbourne in January to stay. He will be staying from Friday onwards for an indefinate period. This would be a good oppotunity for him to work out what subjects he will be doing next year for school.

Edit: I also made minestrone soup using all fresh ingredients. It was delicious!!!

Beyond a joke

Little did I know as I passed the protest in the city that it would become a full scale riot. What does this achieve? The issues they represent are real and relevant but to do this is compromising their own efforts. It is the protesters agenda to make the G20 economists seem like villains and reptiles to the general public, when you start throwing water bombs filled with urine at police just trying to keep peace, you have to question the motive. These people have serious issues with globalisation and capitalism. This is a true example of mob mentality gone amok.

I try my best to seem objective when it comes to these issues and try to see issues from both sides. I believe in free speech. I hope this doesn't take the credibility off more worthwhile protests.

A good old fashioned hippie sit-in

Saturday, November 18, 2006

There is a lot of contrevercy around the G20 in the city at the moment. Everywhere in the city you will find posters on the walls and chalk on the intersections advertising people to stop the G20 and there are police everywhere in town. I am all for free speach but it seems all these protests seem to be unfounded.

In a journey around the city I came across an old fashioned "sit-in" infront of the steps of Parliment House. There was beefed up police presence. Some could describe the people there you could describe there as "a colourful liberal croud", the less politically correct term would be "Domestic Hippies".

I do realise that capitalism and globalisation have its disadvantages but some of the things they were proposing were too far. It is unrealistic to ask all foregn trade to cease and all larger companies to move offshore. There was even a poster comparing John Howard to Hitler,I'll let you make your mind about that.

It makes me question how much those protesting the G20 actually know anything about it, it is just a conference for economic leaders from around the world to TALK!!!!!11111oneoneone there are no votes.

In a simmillar subject, Bono did appear at the "Make Poverty History" Concert last night apparently, we studied an article about it in Economics (The one where he's screaming "CAN YOU FEEEEEEEEEEL". Even when U2 wasnt featured in the line up, I kept confident he would be there. I love it when I'm right.

Re: Schools Out

Friday, November 17, 2006

School is out again and in due time too, I could do with a break for a while. Exams are over for the year and about time. I found that just before the exams I was restless and was getting into the Holiday spirit too quickly, luckly I was able to snap into exam mood in time to hopefully ace the exam, perhaps I opperate better under the pressure. I hope I get the job at Haighs Chocolate, I could really do with the job. So far they have called my references but I have not heard about anything else, I hope I find out soon. When it comes to these sorts of things I am not always the most patient person.

Ajaks is now Level 39 going on 40 and I get Moonkin Form and DireBear Form:

If you are bored over your holiday break I recomend the Quick Hitts Podcast it is a clever and short podcast that picks to pieces American Culture and Politics in a way that is informative and entertaining. A lot of people say that it is not all that relevent, and Australia and North America are too far away. However, In todays globalised world with Internet, Fast Food and One Night Stands we are a lot closer that you think. Yay for Globalisation!!!

The interview

Thursday, November 09, 2006

I am very excited. Today I had an interview with one of the suits from Haighs (I forget the name). It was informally formal if you know what I mean. With any luck I'll be taking a position back shop dealing with infantory and stock. In the process I learned about some of the finer workings of the chocolate industry, including some of the holidays and seasons they like to focus on.

On my way out I bought a little bag of chocolates for Corey and sent it to him with letter and DVD.

Haighs Chocolate

Tuesday, November 07, 2006

Good news!
I got an interview at Haighs Chocolate in the city. This is ever so exciting. This might be a good chance for me to get my foot in the door in the retail industry. I have an interview on Thursday afternoon. :)

In other news yesterday Emily, Erin, Stefano and I went to the Kino Dendy to see "God on my side" and "Who Killed the Electric Car". Both were/are great movies and gave us greater insight into American religion and automotive undustry. The thing I established was that George Bush is an idiot (even though I already knew that).

Ajaks is now level 34

Good luck to your exams Corey!

Back to work!

Why?

Wednesday, November 01, 2006

Yesterday was Laylas Haloween party. Unfortunetly not too many photographs were taken but I think it was a great evening.
I went as a soldier with a bullet hole in my chest. In a bout of tasteless political based humour, I named myself "Private Jake Kovko" for the evening. Erin came as "Erin wearing a new hat", Layla was a mermaid and Emily was an anime character/ Liza Minelli. I ate a lot and tried to hug as many people as I could (Much to the discomfort of Sean). A game we all played was making sentances what end in "in my pants" and "mein heir". I was aked a few times for my blood recipie.

In a way school is getting slower before school starts, in a way it is faster than before. I can attribute this to a shift on focus from assignmnets and coursework to revision on during this pre-exam period. I still have two assignments to do, but after then I wont have any assignments until year 12 orientation. Year 12 isnt too far away. I must admit that I have not been putting as much effort into this years work as I could of, but overall I have been satisfied with how I've been working.

A thing I realised is that school always seems harder when you are looking at it from the outside. When I was in year 7, I always thought of the year 8 work as hard, and year 9 work in year 8 was hard. Once you get to it you realise it isnt that hard at all. I suppose we can attribute this progressional education. I am not afraid of the coarsework of year 12, rather the fact that it is the last year of school, the only institution I've only really known. Next year I'm gonna have to make some serious choices about where I am going in my life.

Looks like the year 12 study room is gonna get pimped out because of a local office is changing its dacore. At least thats one thing to look forward to.

In the meantime I should finish the last of my assignments and focus on revision for my exams.
